I want to play on Poker Stars but I’m not sure where to start?

I am not a beginner but I am not a pro. I want to play for money but only want to deposit 40 bucks. Do you think it would be better to play the 1/2 dollar cash tables or a 10 dollar tournament? Does it even matter?
I have to say, it does sound like you are a complete novice. Anyone who has played poker for any time at all will tell you that $40 is nowhere near enough to sit right in a $1/$2 game, unless you want to play limit and very tight. Also anyone with experience will tell you that risking 25% of your bank roll on a single tournament is also a very bad idea.
What I suggest is that you deposit $50, that way you can get yourself the maximum bonus cash that Stars offers.
I then suggest you play in very low limit games like 25c/50c at the most. Or $2 tournaments. You are starting with such a tiny amount of money, you are going to be severely restricted as to what you can play.
Quite honestly if you can’t easily afford to deposit $100 or so, I question whether you should even be gambling at all.
Once you can consistently beat the micro limits, you can move up a bit. But be careful to protect your bank roll. Remember that online play is not like playing in a casino, where they wouldn’t even bother to spread such low limit games.
